Not only have smartphones driven consumers to be increasingly ‘connected’ via email, on-the-go social networking and shopping. These devices are also promoting accessibility to digital health and wellbeing applications and services.

As illustrated in the below infographic by AlliedHealthWorld.com, mobile health (mHealth) applications are in high demand, doubling year-on-year (comparing downloads for 2011 and 2012). The infographic also indicates that mHealth is set to explode with global revenue from mobile healthcare applications estimated to reach $11.8 billion in 2018.
