Identified as a 2013 Enterprise Influencer by Trent Lund, the internet of things has been described as being ‘the most the most disruptive technology to sweep the globe since the World Wide Web, with estimates ranging between 50 to 500 billion in terms of the devices and products that will be internet-connected by 2020′.

The following infographic produced by Cisco, demonstrates how the internet of things will potentially impact and make new meaningful-connections in the real world. It illustrates how changing weather conditions (essentially rain) would be adapted to in terms of construction, traffic and agriculture through digitally connected technology and networks.
