Infographic: 104 facts about mobile marketing

If you’re reading this page, chances are you’re doing so on a mobile device, say statistics: 51% of internet usage is now handheld. Taking into account this is a business website, however, and the odds drop to 58% chance you’re on desktop. Either way, the competition is strong, and mobile is fast becoming the device of choice for most platforms.

This infographic by WebsiteBuilder.org shares over a hundred facts around the mobile experience. One of the interesting comparisons is between websites and apps: while websites enjoy the greatest number of visitors, apps sustain the reader’s attention for longer and incite greater engagement. This is not so surprising when you consider that news, social media, music streaming and the like are often accessed via apps.

M-commerce, too, is an area ripe for retailers’ attention. Four out of five consumers use smartphones to shop, and 27% say they’re more likely to complete a purchase from a mobile optimised site. Whether or not they seal the deal on their device, data from Google also shows that the smartphone is a crucial asset in the journey to purchase: 82% say they turn to their devices to make a shopping-related search.
